Although the arborists take care not to drop any branches, a certain amount of falling debris is unavoidable. Anyone with access to a patio located near these trees may wish to protect or move any fragile items, including potted plants. The Gardening &amp; Landscaping Committee will be happy to lend any protective materials available.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be some noise throughout the day, and crew members will climb into the canopies of the taller trees and will be working at the level of the upper balconies nearby. The work is intended mainly to address safety issues, to enhance the health and structural soundness of our trees, and to respond to Owners\u2019 requests concerning privacy, light penetration, and similar issues.<\/p>\n<p>The information tour provides an opportunity for owners to learn what is currently planned and to voice any concerns so that these can be taken into account before the scope of work is finalized. An owner on the lower level had a blue tarp covering a bicycle stolen a few days ago. The bicycle was not taken. Please copy <a href=\"mailto:Council@vaniercourt.ca\">Council<\/a> when reporting any deficiencies.<br \/>\nDeficiencies must be reported no later than three days after the work is completed, i.e., no later than Monday, 22 May 2023.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><u>5 May 2023<\/u><\/b><br \/>\n<b><i>Upcoming Council Meeting<\/i><\/b><br \/>\nThe next Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, 5 June 2023, at 6:00 pm.<br \/>\nOwners are welcome to attend the meeting. \u00a0A Zoom link will be made available closer to the time.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><u>4 May 2023<\/u><\/b><br \/>\n<b><i>Elevator quirk &#8211; incorrect \u201cFire return\u201d announcement<\/i><\/b><br \/>\nCouncil would like to ask for your help regard to an ongoing issue concerning the elevator. \u00a0The elevator occasionally announces that it is in &#8220;Fire Return Mode&#8221; and asks riders to make their way to the exits. \u00a0This error has been present ever since the installation of the elevator last summer, and while it does not affect the elevator\u2019s operations, it should not occur in a new system. \u00a0West Coast Elevator is trying to pinpoint the cause of this erroneous announcement.If you hear this announcement in the elevator or if you notice any other odd behaviour, please report it to Council at <a href=\"mailto:Council@vaniercourt.ca\">Council@vaniercourt.ca<\/a> so that we can properly document the problem. \u00a0Robert, our point person when the elevator was installed, is generously continuing to look after such issues, but we need your help.The technician was on site on 2 May to change a computer chip, and further action may be required. \u00a0This service (along with any components that may be needed) is covered under our 1-year installation warranty, so there is no cost for us at the moment, but we should ensure that the problem is sorted out fairly soon.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><u>12 April 2023<\/u><\/b><br \/>\n<b>Call for Committee Volunteers<\/b><br \/>\nCouncil would like to invite Owners to volunteer for the following three committees:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>the Gardening &amp; Landscaping Committee<\/li>\n<li>the Renovations Committee (for the new carpet in the hallways and stairwells)<\/li>\n<li>the Social Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin board in the lobby.
